A Libbe Colon Hydrotherapy Session Explained
For the first session, we ask our clients to arrive a little ahead of time for their scheduled appointment. You will be given a health questionnaire to complete, and this will take around 15 minutes.
You will be led into the colon hydrotherapy room where you will be given a few minutes to prepare yourself in privacy. After removing your lower body clothing, you will hop up onto the ergonomically curved colonic bed. There is a rectal tube which you will insert yourself; it will naturally settle to a depth of 2-3cm inside the anal canal.
The rectal tube is even thinner than a pencil and curved to aligned comfortably with your anal canal. You will be supplied with a natural lubricant and a clean cotton sarong to cover yourself before ringing the bell to start your session. A gentle flow of warm, purified water will be gravity fed into the colon via the pencil-thin sterile disposable rectal tube. The continuous gentle flow of water softens and loosens the content of the colon stimulating peristalsis, and the waste is eliminated easily, comfortably and hygienically at your own pace. Due to the magic of Mother Nature, the sphincter muscle naturally contracts around the rectal tube even during evacuation. The rectal tube stays in place effortlessly for the duration of the process.
The treatment lasts approximately 45 mins during which time around 25 litres of UV filtered water is introduced into the colon, hydrating the bowel whilst loosening fecal plaque and impacted waste matter. The warm water softens and loosens the contents of the colon, aiding in elimination of toxins, bacteria, parasites, worms, candida, gas, undigested food material and mucous. There is no mess or odour and you are comfortably lying on your back and covered throughout the session, ensuring your dignity and privacy is maintained at all times. We use soft lighting, music and aromatherapy essential oils to help you relax and make your treatment more nurturing and enjoyable.
Our experienced therapists are on hand to support the correct water flow and temperature at all times and are able to give you a relaxing abdominal massage and a heated wheat pack to place on your tummy to assist with the elimination process. For your support throughout your process, as per your preference; some clients prefer solitude and your right to privacy is respected. Some people have a sense of apprehension or anxiety around colonic irrigation but usually after the first session they realise that it’s an organically natural & simple procedure that can actually be quite pleasant as it often brings instant relief to a range of digestive disorders.
Of course it’s not always going to be a comfortable experience to have a colonic, especially the first time. Some people report feeling slightly nauseous or experience mild cramping during the treatment. Preparing yourself well for your colonic treatment can often help to make your colonic more comfortable through to relaxing and for some, a great relief.
Sessions are 40 minutes. Our recommended package is a minimum of 3 sessions over a 1-2 week period and a follow-up colonic monthly or bimonthly depending your individual needs and goals.
If you are having colonics as part of a supplemented detox program, 6 sessions over 1 week is recommended This isn’t to say a single treatment is of no value, but we would suggest you discuss this with your chosen health care professional who will be able to assess your individual needs and goals.
Planning the rest of your day
Bring something warm to wear in case you feel cold after your treatment. Your body temperature has a tendency to drop after a cleanse. The majority of our clients leave the treatment feeling energised and revitalised. Occasionally some people may feel a little fatigued or light headed due to release of trapped toxins and the liver kicking in to continue with that detox process. If this happens don’t worry, make sure you hydrate and drink plenty of water, and have a light meal preferably a miso soup or light broth. Warm herbal tea is advised, such as organic ginger, chamomile and/or peppermint.
Sleep may be required to repair. Listen to your body, you will feel fantastic the following day.
General Dietary Guidelines for After Your Colonic / Guidelines for after your Cleanse
Many biological changes take place during a fast and safely coming off your juice cleanse is extremely important. During a fast, your body is in resting mode and solid foods should be introduced very slowly so as not to overburden your digestive system. Because juices require a minimal amount of digestion for its assimilation, your body will considerably slow down the production of digestive enzymes.
The slow introduction of solid foods will allow your body to replenish such enzymes, which are crucial for optimal digestion. A gentle transition will allow your stomach to return to its normal state without digestive distress.
The length of your fast will determine the length at which it takes you to transition back to solid foods. About 3 days transition is advised for 5 to 7 days fast, 2 days for 2-4 days fast and 1 day for 1 day fast. Avoid gas-forming foods for a couple of days after the treatment with closer attention on the 24hrs after your cleanse.
